This past weekend had the entire disc golf community glued to the live scoring page on www.discgolfworldtour.com. The course "The Beast" provided more than enough challenge and excitement to really make this event a pleasure to follow. The Spin TV channel on youtube posted daily wrap up videos to help recap each day. If you were not able to watch, here is what you missed:
As the 2016 tournament season is in full swing, many have said Paul McBeth has lost his touch. With Ricky Wysocki coming off a string of huge wins so far this year, he was definitely the person to beat coming into this event. After the first 2 rounds Wysocki had the lead and Paul was down 5 strokes heading into championship Saturday. With the lead card full of incredible disc golfers, it was anybodies to win. Simon Lizotte and KJ Nybo on the card as well provided top notch competition for this event.
In the final round, Ricky made some mistakes with OB and a few missed opportunities. Paul tasted blood and started the chase to the top spot. Even with an injury, Paul was putting with incredible confidence and everyone caught a glimpse of the "McBeast" we are all so used to seeing. On 18 Ricky went OB twice and Paul made a few very accurate shots which left him with a lay up (his only inside the circle miss) for the tap in win!
This was a very exciting tournament to follow but a few complained that such a prestigious event needs more live coverage. This is just proof that more and more people are beginning to love the live coverage of events. DGWT does an incredible job with these events and we are looking forward to The European Masters in Stockholm, Sweden next mont.
Now get out there and THROW!
